only a few days left to see herb jackson's solo exhibition up through saturday. lots of new and exciting work has come in this week including new paintings by gallery artists kate long stevenson, ruth ava lyons, david kroll and selena beaudry. kate's new paintings both abstract and figurative are full of color and motion. one of the larger paintings two women as landscape has been translated into a silk scarf necklace in collaboration with new york city designer mignonne gavigan.

two women as landscape
an exclusive collaboration between new york city based mignonne gavigan and kate long stevenson, mignonne and kate worked together to reinterpret katie's painting to create a signature scarf necklace. silk chiffon based scarf necklace with all-over glass beading and embroidery. kate's gestural brushstrokes and a passion for color is the bases to all her work, ranging from figurative to abstract. a long time lover of music, kate relies mostly on classical compositions to guide her as she builds painting, layering chords of color over energetic swirls of charcoal and paint.
new work by gallery artist ruth ava lyons just in at hidell brooks as well. her changeling series emphasizes being different conveying the idea of forever changing one's character and shape. the power of a simple image can provide hope in the world transformation through the metamorphosis of a butterfly. the imaginal cells that transform a caterpillar represent our human society as an evolving and intelligent organism. the changeling series are mixed media and gold leaf on aluminum.
one beautiful new painting by david kroll came in this week and quickly found a home with a collector. we cannot wait to see it hanging soon. our next solo exhibition for david kroll is scheduled for fall 2018.
loving the new group of collages we just got in from the london studio of selena beaudry. hidell brooks is patiently waiting for them to return from the framer. her collages are formed from cut up watercolors she then recreates into sculptural piles that weave, overlap, crisscross to create a form of their own. they are the epitome of creativity.
