hidell brooks gallery is so excited for amanda talley who was honored this past friday night at the new orleans museum of art annual love in the garden celebration. LOVE honors local artists whose work and lives have made a contribution to the city of new orleans. this year’s honorees along with amanda talley are lin emery, courtney egan, richard johnson, and grover mouton. in addition to recognizing these outstanding artists, this year’s LOVE celebration also celebrated the tenth anniversary of the magnificent besthoff sculpture garden.
the five-acre sydney and walda besthoff sculpture garden at noma is one of the most important sculpture installations in the united states, with over 60 sculptures situated on a beautifully landscaped site amongst meandering footpaths, reflecting lagoons, spanish moss-laden 200-year-old live oaks, mature pines, magnolias, camellias, and pedestrian bridges.
we are so happy for amanda and wish we had been there to celebrate with her in the gorgeous gardens surrounded by the amazing sculpture. amanda talley's solo exhibition at hidell brooks is up through the end of october. we just got in a new group of drawings that are not to be missed! here are a few shots from friday night's celebration.
