love the recent hidell brooks install of a painting by ruth ava lyons above a set of large windows. lost colonies by lyons is 78 inches long to get an idea of the space. ruth ava imagines and interprets nature through her paintings with a focus on organic life systems such as the everglades where she had a residency in 2011. the painting was perfect with the backdrop of boats docked in a row ready to head out on the water.
hidell brooks is so excited to see what is created in her studio in the next few months for ruth has just returned from a sojourn at the heron island research center on the great barrier reef in australia. she spent her time scuba diving, photographing underwater and just observering the amazing nature around her.
ruth ava lyons much anticipated solo exhibition is in march 2014.
