we have had the pleasure of working with barrie benson many times over the years at hidell brooks gallery. we are always in awe at barrie's fresh take on interior design. she has one foot planted in the past with her eyes on the future. she is a mix master at her best whether it is with color, pattern or texture in fabrics, furnishings or accessories.
barrie's interior design is visual eye candy. she was recently featured in garden & gun magazineas one of the new generation of southern women redefining the south. we admit one of the reasons we love barrie is she loves art as well!
we had the pleasure of installing over at barrie's amazing house the other day. she and her architect husband have redone an awesome mid century modern house that you have to realize are quite rare in charlotte. we are partial to her husband matt benson of meyer greeson paullin benson since he helped katharine remodel her ranch into a fabulous modern study in black and white a few years ago.
barrie and matt recently acquired a wonderful collage byselena beaudrythat was featured in her solo exhibition at hidell brooks this summer. one look attangand you know why barrie was drawn to this work of art. the collage was one of our favorite out of the show and we are thrilled with it's new home. it fits right in and is in good company!
we also enjoyed getting to visit one of our all time favorite paintings at barrie's house. barrie saw an eric aho painting at the gallery about ten years ago that she fell in love with instantly. the oil is hanging on an incredible stacked slate wall in the same room with the new selena beaudry collage. barrie's ability to create rooms that contain bright colors and flowing patterns that culminate into spaces that more than work they are meant to be period. everything down to the smallest detail feels like they belong together. that is barrie's gift.
