hidell brooks is ecstatic to be having our first solo exhibition of new paintings and works on paper for new york artist mary nelson sinclair. born and raised in dallas, texas, she received her bfa from the pratt institute in 2008. after internships at chanel, carolina herrera and domino magazine, mary nelson decided to blend her love of arts and interiors by working in textile design at vanderhurd. after an amazing experience there she made the huge step to become a full-time artist. a recent blog on the lifestyle edit has a wonderful interview with mary nelson on the ins and outs of being a working artist.
“my process in making work is purely meditative. i do not really plan what is going to happen on the canvas. it comes as i go.”
