it has been a long week of installing and even re-installing made in the south. the two years in the making group exhibition of 25 southern contemporary artists is finally ready to go public this friday. the works are hung, lit and looking phenomenal. all the hard work was definitely worth the effort. the variety of artwork in the show is overwhelming including cast glass, mixed media, oil on panel + canvas, paper collage, oil on paper, and clay just to name a few. john folsom and anke schofield both use photographs as the base of their work before layering oil paint and encaustic. it is safe to say this exhibition covers almost all mediums and materials at an artist's disposal.
