wildflower by ruth ava lyons has been selected by asc popart program to be digitally reproduced on billboards across the charlotte metro area throughout 2014. ruth has digitally altered the image to include the letters ccd to call attention to the plight of colony collapse disorder. it is estimated that nearly one-third of all honey bee colonies in the country have vanished. ruth ava lyons interestingly enough was one of the first artists in charlotte to paint billboards 25 years ago! below is her fabulous hand painted billboard from long ago.
